Day 6: Finalize Your Niche – It's Decision Time

Why Finalizing Your Niche Is a Big Deal

Picking a niche is like choosing a long-term partner.

You’ll spend countless hours together, argue with it, invest money in it, and (hopefully) grow old rich and successful with it.

Here’s what happens when you DON’T finalize your niche:

  • You waste time bouncing between ideas.
  • You start five blogs and finish none.
  • You confuse your readers (and yourself).
  • You delay making money.

This decision isn’t permanent, but it is foundational.

So let’s make it count.

The Sweet Spot Formula

Passion + Profit + Practicality

1. Passion

If your niche bores you to death, you’re not going to stick with it for 60 days, let alone 6 months.

Ask yourself:

  • Can I write or talk about this every day?
  • Do I enjoy learning more about this topic?
  • Would I still care if it didn’t make me money (hypothetically speaking)?

Example: Love organizing your home like it’s a Netflix special?

Hello, decluttering niche.

2. Profit Potential

Let’s be real: passion is great, but passion won’t pay your bills unless it sells.

Your niche needs to have monetization options:

Check for:

  • Affiliate products (Amazon, ClickBank, ShareASale)
  • Digital product potential (ebooks, courses, printables)
  • Service offers (coaching, consulting)
  • Ad network potential (Google AdSense, Ezoic)

If people are spending money in your niche, you can make money in it.

3. Practicality

Ask yourself:

  • Do I have enough knowledge to teach or create content?
  • Can I learn as I go and still deliver value?
  • Does this fit into my lifestyle?

Some niches are great on paper but terrible in practice.

(Looking at you, drone photography if you live in a no-fly zone.)

Filtering Down Your Top Niche Ideas

You probably have 2 or 3 contenders left on your list.

Here’s how to break the tie.

Niche
Passion (1-5)
Profit (1-5)
Practicality (1-5)
Total

Score them all, total it up, and see what niche checks the most boxes.

It doesn’t have to be perfect.

It just has to be strong enough to build on.

Run the Final Niche Check

Before you commit, let’s validate your top choice with these final filters:

✅ Are people searching for it?

Use Google, Pinterest, or a keyword tool (like Ubersuggest or Pinterest Trends) to see if your niche gets regular interest.

✅ Are people spending money in it?

Search your niche on Amazon, ClickBank, and Etsy.

Are there products, courses, or books being sold?

✅ Can you find 60 blog post ideas?

Use your Pinterest keyword research (remember Pinclicks?) and ask: Can I write 60 helpful articles in this niche?

✅ Are competitors succeeding?

Check successful blogs in your niche.

If others are making money, that’s a green light, not a red flag.

There’s room for you too.

The Confidence Checklist

Before we say “I do” to your niche, go through this quick checklist:

If you checked off all five, you are ready.

Cue the wedding bells. 💒

Legendary Marketer by David Sharpe - Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t Marry the Niche, Date It (First)

Yes, we said pick a niche.

But just like dating, you’re allowed to evolve.

You can pivot.

You can rebrand later if needed.

The point is to commit now so you can start building momentum.

Paralysis-by-analysis is the real dream killer here.

Remember:

“Perfect is the enemy of done.”

And you, my friend, are about to be done overthinking and ready to build.

Your Day 6 Action Steps:

  1. Revisit your top 2-3 niche ideas
  2. Score them based on Passion + Profit + Practicality
  3. Run them through the Final Niche Check
  4. Pick one and write it down in bold marker on a sticky note
  5. Do a victory dance. You’re now officially a blogger-in-the-making.

Tomorrow, we find your perfect domain name and take the first step in owning your online real estate.

And yes, it’s going to feel real.

Because it is.

See you on Day 7!

P.S. If you’re still stuck between two niches, flip a coin. Seriously. While it’s in the air, you’ll secretly hope for one. That’s your answer. 🪙
