Tumblr is a microblogging platform and social networking website with a Free Membership for it’s users and the ability to use their own domain names if desired.

Tumblr was always considered microblogging and the social structure of it made the platform one of the most popular blogging platforms today. In Tumblr.com, bloggers can follow other bloggers and stay up to date with all of their content. It is a great way to gain blog readers very fast by simply plugin into the blogging community.

Which one is easier to use?

The answer hereย  will depend on what you are trying to do with the blog site. If you just want to plug in and start blogging right away without worrying too much on the looks of your site then Tumblr is the winner.

If you want to have a lot more control of your site and have more options to customize your blog the way you want it, then WordPress is for you.

Below are images to give you a better view of the Dashboard or “Backoffice” of each blogging platform.

I would say Tumblr is easier to use and setup than WP when it comes to blogging. It has very simple options and a private network of bloggers to help you gain readers a lot easier. T

hey keep it simple so you can start creating content as soon as possible.

WordPress would also be amongst the easiest blogging platforms to use but that would be for the very Techy people that learned HTML, CSS, etc, since Elementary School and basically for people that have a lot of technical skills online. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ WP can be a great tool to build a powerful blog online if you learn how to use the entire Platform very well.

Which one is more Flexible & Customizable?

Hands down to WP. They have one of the best blogging platform to build a very awesome website from scratch with ease.

Unlike Tumblr, WordPress has thousands of plugins to use and play with to customize your blog the way you want it.

Here is a comparison:

WordPress has about 2,216 free customizable Themes and a total of about 30,000 Themes if we include the Premium and Paid Themes.

Tumblr has about 1,000+ Themes and not all are Free.

WordPress has about 28,888 free plugins to choose from and that’s without counting the Premium and Paid Plugins.

Tumblr has about 10+ plugins you can use.

I’m sure this simple comparison says it all! ๐Ÿ™‚

Which one works best for you?

This will depend on you and how comfortable you are with each one of these platforms. I recommend you to try them both and blog on them for a little to get the complete experience.

Both of these blogging platforms allow you to get your own Domain Name and build your blog with it. Of course they also offer you a Free Blog Site you can use to get started if you can’t afford to pay for a Domain Name and a Hosting Service.

Of course, my recommendation here is to invest in your own self-hosted websites so you can have way more control over your content and over what goes on – on your site.

With the information I have shared on this post and the information you might have already gathered from the search engines (google.com …who are we kidding lol ๐Ÿ˜€ ) about these two blogging platforms…

…choose the one you are more comfortable with.

Both of these Blogging Platforms – Tumblr vs WordPress – are great tools to get you started blogging online and possibly earning money with it.

My personal recommendation for you would be to go with WordPress and build a powerful and cool looking blog with it. Maybe a site like mine here? … lol ..just kidding!

Tumblr and WordPress are very popular amongst the bloggers online. Both offer unique features each one don’t have.

Like the private network of bloggers inside Tumblr.com – it can get really easy for a newbie to start gaining readers in the Tumblr Blogging Community. WordPress has something similar but only for the Free Blogs they provide you with.
